* * *UPDATE* * * 1:49pm est: please watch this beautiful video by lisa barcy. makes me feel so much.

this is turning out to be an unofficial week of pairings, i guess!

my favorite cold-weather breakfast is oat bran. in it, i add anything from currants, dried cherries, pears, chopped walnuts, sliced almonds, pureed banana, plums, maple syrup, honey, warm milk...really whatever i have in the cupboard.

have you had it before?
mix half a cup of oat bran to about one cup of water in a little saucepan and put on medium heat. when it starts to bubble, add your dried fruit & nut fillings and give it a good stir. take another small saucepan and add a bit of milk and any kind of sweetener you'd like (milk + maple is my favorite) and warm it up. once the oat bran looks creamy, remove from the heat & spoon into a bowl, and then pour the warm milk over the top. add any fresh fruit you have on hand, and dig in.
this morning i had cherry maple pear and it was wonderful. yesterday i had plum cherry currant honey. endless possibilities & so delicious, warming, and filling.

hope your day is great. xox
